Upcoming Security Update: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
What this means for you
Keeping your banking information protected and secure is a top priority. As part of this commitment, Vision Credit Union, along with our Canada-wide partners, will be introducing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for online banking following an update on August 18, 2026.
✻ MFA will be mandatory for all online banking users after the update.
✻ On the mobile app, this is typically a one-time setup.
✻ Once your device is marked as “trusted,” you won’t need to complete MFA each time you log in.
✻ You’ll only need to re-enroll if you reinstall the app, get a new device, or remove your device from your trusted list.
Getting started
The first time you log in after the update, you’ll be prompted to enroll in MFA. You can choose from the following options:
✻ Push Notifications – Approve or deny login attempts directly from your mobile device with one tap.
✻ SMS Authentication – Receive a one-time passcode (OTP) via text message.
✻ Voice Call Authentication – Receive a one-time passcode (OTP) through an automated phone call (recommended if you don’t use a smartphone).
✻ Web Authentication – Use a secure key or device-based biometrics (like fingerprint or facial recognition) within your browser.
How often will I need MFA?
✻ Mobile App – Your device becomes trusted after setup and will stay that way unless you remove it or reinstall the app.
✻ Web Browser – Trusted status expires after 12 hours, so MFA is typically required each time you log in.
