Who We Are

Vision Credit Union Ltd. was first incorporated in 1950 as Camrose Savings and Credit Union Ltd., to serve East Central Alberta residents. We had a total membership of 21 and assets of $178.

In 1966 a branch office was opened in Edberg, and membership had grown to 1,122. A new building was built on 51st Street in Camrose in 1969.

Over the next several years branches were opened in Stettler, Coronation and a second location in Camrose was opened. We also amalgamated with Flagstaff Credit Union and Vegreville & District Savings & Credit Union.

In 1984, we changed our name to Battle River Credit Union Ltd.

In 2000, we became the owners of seven Bank of Montreal branches with five new locations for a total of 11 branches.

In 2000 and 2008 we were awarded Credit Union of the Year, an award which is based on various operating areas including financial results and marketing initiatives. These awards serve as an indication that members’ interests are being well-represented by Battle River Credit Union, and are definitely a reflection of a loyal membership and a very strong board of directors and management group.

In 2014, Battle River Credit Union merged with Caisse Horizon Credit Union, gaining an additional six branches serving the Northern Alberta region, and our name was changed to Vision Credit Union Ltd.

In September 2019, we acquired the Wetaskiwin branch of Encompass Credit Union. We now serve almost 25,000 members.
